You Never Know [Arwen and Julo]

Post by Arwen » Sun Aug 09, 2020 5:00 pm

After he was brought down from the mountain Arwen had some time to heal, a cyberneticist had seen to his arm while the medical ship he was on was bringing everyone aligned with the Rebellion to a safe place. Laying in the white room Arwen looked at the ceiling. A hissing sound denoted the door opening, he didn't look up. For all the time he spent with the other Inquisitors and Lord Vader he learned a lot. How to tap into the Force, how to use it, how to read it.

Even without it though.. he would have known. So palpable was his hate for the woman.

"Arwen.." Deera spoke, walking into the room with Xahr behind her. Xahr went to take a seat by the door by Deera reassured him and asked him for proper privacy with her son. Reluctant, but understanding, he exited the room.

Coming up to Arwen's side, now that they were alone, she brought a chair with her. Sitting beside her son she put her hand on the bed frame near his hand, he moved it instinctively. "Arwen.. I.. I want you to know I didn't mean for any of this. My priority.. my hope.. it was always to keep Kamda safe. I thought by.. I thought we could hide under the radar. I was wrong, Arwen. I cannot say I am sorry, I doubt.. I doubt you care to hear it from me, but I know I was wrong," she said, trying to catch a look from her son.

Arwen didn't respond, didn't move, perhaps she even was given the doubt he was even really there.

Curling her fingers into a ball at the edge of the bed she took a deep breath. "I have always loved you.. Kamda.. Kamda needed me then, it needs me now. I'm.. I killed my son that day, but I am glad you are still alive Arwen," she said, rising from her seat she walked toward the exit once more. Stopping halfway she looked back at her son, the dark expression he wore as he looked to the ceiling. How cold the room felt around her.

She left, collected by Xahr at the door the two made their exit.

Another visitor...

"Sure is cold in here.." he walked to the wall, checked to see if he could find a temperature gauge. Tapped it a few times, "Are you alright son? Appears this thing is broken?" Nerra asked, but Arwen didn't respond.

"Ah.." he said, tapping his chin. "I understand. Visitors.. unwelcome ones, they can often be a chore I understand. Had I any say I would have blocked her from coming in here but I'm afraid I have no say here. No, I'm afraid I had to make a few deals to get myself here. Chief among them was staying far removed from Xahr Kuhr.. which, I understand," he said, walking to Arwen's side.

"Now, I understand, son. How you must feel. Had I been through what you've been through? I probably would have torn down the whole of the planet, I think," he chuckled darkly. "Yet you didn't. I'm glad you're alive son, I am. You have no reason to care for me, to know who I am," he said, "and I would not offer it otherwise but if you need help know that you can come to me. Those wayward souls looking for a place? I can help you. Don't trust me?" he said, tapping the edge of his bed.

"Well.. trust is gained through acts of trust, or by showing otherwise you can be trusted. Isn't that right?" he asked, but Arwen didn't respond. Nerra didn't need him to. "You and your people, Arwen, they were an inspiration to us all. What your mother did has never sat right with me. To this day it's why I refuse to work with the woman but.. to air her past to the whole of Kamda would shatter this small rebellion of ours. By my way of apology for not acting sooner.. another guest will be here soon," he walked from the bed-side but didn't look back. Had he, he would have seen Arwen finally show some recognition of what's going on.

Arwen watched the door as Nerra left alone, angry, and confused. Had he the time to consider how much he hated that man he might have gained a life-long enemy but before this hate could cement the door opened one last time...

Opening the door was an aid, helping Julo be wheeled in. Sat in his wheelchair he didn't look around the room. From the moment they turned the corner Julo looked directly to Arwen, Arwen to Julo. Everything else stopped. Long ago the Aid had left them, and they seemed to not notice a thing.

Finally...

"My sun and stars," Julo said, the warm smile brightening the room as the stream of tears washed down his cheeks.

Arwen's heart stopped, his brain stopped, everything in the world stopped. Everything he'd ever known for the past seven years blew away in the wind. All of his hatred felt.. ridiculous, how foolish had he been. All this time he mourned him, all these years he held this hate for his mother who killed his friends, killed Julo.

Fighting against the bed sheet, the monitors, the beeping started going haywire as Arwen fought himself free of all that kept him to the bed. Racing over his new mechanical arm steadied him on Julo's wheelchair while the real one caressed his cheek. Tears held in his eyes, poured down his cheeks.

"My moon and tides," he returned.
