Re: [EM8] Crabitalism II: Crustacean Boogaloo
Jyrvess followed the two skilled hunters, pulling out her woefully inadequate pistol. Maybe she looked dangerous!
Re: [EM8] Crabitalism II: Crustacean Boogaloo
Their path would take them deeper into the desert, a long stretch of dune-less sands. No reprieve from the heat above it beat down on them like a heavy blanket.
[Threat, path leads them into deeper, hotter, portion of the desert. Two setback from Heat.]

"It's hot," Raven fanned herself for a moment. "And the sand, it's... rough, and coarse... it gets everywhere."
She suspected she'd be cleaning sand out of her armor for days after this.

"Miss Raven you say the most romantic things," Jyrvess said as she wiped her forehead. "I would have just said it is hellish."

"It'll be worth it. Just think of the stories." He wasn't comfortable. His mouth a bit of a sneer as the heat grew more oppressive. The footing was difficult as the sand gave way beneath each footfall, that dry, hot wind, whipping against them.
"It'll be fine. Worth breakfast after."

A perception check at Hard may be made.
If everyone fails, please feel free to make a vigilance also at Hard.

Re: [EM8] Crabitalism II: Crustacean Boogaloo
Up ahead, Raven spotted the eye-stalks that she remembered from the days before.

Jyrvess likewise spotted the eye-stalks. Her eyes widening a little as her brain started working on the eye-stalk to body size math.

(Yes I know Raven saw it already!)

Raven halted and stopped Tranq with a hand on his shoulder. From there, her hand could easily point out the eye-stalks to him.

OOC: Don't do rolls when you first wake up, kids. Ya put in the wrong code! Just taking the failure on my own Perception check.
The Karkarodon was prepared to keep on walking, until he felt the hand at his shoulder. Stopping, he silently followed Raven's point. There they were, the two stalks just waiting in the heat. His grin was visceral, sharp teeth gleaming in the early morning sun of the desert.
"What a beauty..." He whispered under his breath, as he focused on them.

"Yeah." The excitement in his voice was undeniable. "She's huge. Good sized starfighter size. Massive for the creature. Carapace is awe inspiring."Jyrvess Ertil wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 10:20 pm"Uhh...my memory on eyes to body ratio for a similar creature is giving me some scary numbers." "Eyes sharp. Stay behind us, Jyv."
Whereas Raven was also excited for the thrill of the hunt, she seemed much more focused on the task.

Reflexes were not as sharp as she wanted this early in the morning. She blamed the heat, but mostly the sand.

Re: [EM8] Crabitalism II: Crustacean Boogaloo
Dex was right up behind them, strapped and ready for some ass-kicking when she felt the ground shake, "I-is that normal?" she asked almost immediately as the ground shifted from under them and a crab creature burst forth! Launching them backward and into the sand around.
Quickly, it almost seems as if it's starting to bury itself again as the sand is rapidly tossed out from the center. Many legs and big shovel-like claws and pulling everyone in toward the center. Reacting fast Dex is quick to pull herself free of the sand trap and roll onto the not-moving sand and recover from the sudden excess of force she had to put on her body.
Dex Init: 1eP+3eA 2 successes

Sand Crab go BOOSH: 2eP+1eA 2 successes, 3 advantage

Sand Crab go Diggy Diggy Hole: 2eP+2eA+3eD 3 successes, 1 advantage

Claw Her Way Out: 2eP+1eA+3eD 3 successes, 1 threat

All PC's, and Dex, are launched from engaged to Short. They are knocked prone as the creature reveals itself from beneath them.
All characters, at the start of the ability, are pulled into Engaged.
Every character within short moves inward one move-band per turn.
All characters in the sand trap are immobilized, cannot make move actions. Until they are able to free themselves from the pit with a Hard athletics or Coordination check.
- Prone characters receive a setback to this check.
Characters who begin their turn in engaged with the sand-trap TWICE begin to suffer the effects of Suffocation.
