Smooth Time [Pre-Game]

Another quiet evening at the Korso's, with Fuff emerging from his afternoon nap to soothe the patrons with unobtrusive musical ambience to the sounds of their souls...

[Tosath Nazora]

A tired looking man, with a medpac slung over his shoulder, walks into the bar. He's been a sparse regular here. Not a frequent visitor, but it's also the only bar he really visits with regularity of his own volition. Any time he goes elsewhere it's because he's been invited. He just seems to prefer this place for personal reasons apparently.

He places the medpac on the floor at his feet, and rests them next to it as he takes a seat. He orders a sipping whiskey and waits for the astromech to return with it.

[Fuff]

Soon after the semi-regular had entered the song shifted.

The old-fashioned mic was kept close to the Farghul's mouth, setting the tone for quieter and more purrous.

When C77 returns with his whiskey the doctor pays for the drink and thanks the droid. He takes a sip as he sits quietly and listens to the Farghul's song. His thoughts wandering over the more severe illnesses and injuries that he had cared for earlier that day. He really needed a drink tonight though, with the news that one of his regular patients had finally succumbed to a genetic disease. He had a fair amount of experience losing patients, so it didn't hit as hard as it used to, but it was still unfortunate and they had become close in the course of treatment. So tonight he drank to the older woman's memory.

When the song eventually finished, the doctor raised his glass in appreciation.

[Fuff]

A nod of acknowledgement, and another song, a bit more gritty, with sharper tones elevating the voice at end-lines.

Another entered, a short and undernourished looking twi'lek girl. She walked up and spoke briefly briefly to Jaxon Ursae before nodding with a slightly dejected smile and asking for a glass of water. Then she turned and listened to the singer. She could at least get some entertainment out of the evening.

Fuff knew indigence when he saw it, for he had lived it. He managed a friendly smile at the Twi'lek before the stanzas and he resolved to offer her some drink and snacks once he could take a break, which wasn't until the end of song.

It wasn't that he didn't care, but more that he had spent the past few hours seeing people just like the Twi'lek, similarly malnourished. Plus, it wasn't like he could use stims to heal hunger, wasn't a grocer, and was far from made of credits. He wasn't one to turn away someone in need, but he preferred a bit of order in his life so he didn't seek out edge cases where he could help. Doing the most good, in his estimation, was going where the need was greatest.

He sometimes didn't like that about himself, his cold calculation and cost benefit analyses of how best to help people. The internal struggle between his logic and his desire to help often left him in a depressed mood. What had his fore-bearers done to his genetics to create this clash? Maybe they recognized that error in his genetic programming and that's why they didn't want him back.

Ryn raised an eyebrow at the smile. She wasn't used to being acknowledged in situations like these. She was at a point where it made her suspicious more than anything... Despite the lessons she was supposed to have learned in that regard. Well. The life where she'd learned them was long gone.

Generally, awkward avoidance of eye contact was the order of the day. People avoided engaging with anyone showing evidence of suffering in her experience. She wondered if some of that made work harder to find? It was an interesting point of inquiry.

She noted the Arkanian... looked like offshoot, nodding to herself. That was more the normal response. The reasons always made her wonder, and she was tempted to go over to start testing her own hypotheses... But she did her best to suppress her training's urging to stick her nose where it didn't belong.

With the song finished, Fuff took a break. He could do that, as his performances here weren't contracted, just something he randomly did as a payback for a place here. He left the stage after a quite finishing note and approached the bar. Leaning over to Jaxom, he asked for a beer and some ordinary snack fill to be served to the Twi'lek, on his tab.

Reasons behind actions, those were always difficult to get without knowing more of the person who acted.

She smiled to the Farghul for the drink and snack. It was definitely more than she was expecting this evening. "Thanks, stranger. I'm Ryn Keesa." The least she could do was give her name back.

"And I am Fuff, a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Rys Keesa." The feline smile returned, warm but also unobtrusive, and consistent with the previous one. "Hopefully, a proper greeting doesn't make me a stranger anymore."

"That's a cute name, Fuff," she agreed with a smile between sips her beer and bites of her snack. "It certainly goes a good way toward correcting the situation. You a local?"

"Nah, just staying for a while. Until things get too stuffy around here. You purrobably know what I mean." His tail batted gently as he leaned over the counter, turning his ear rather than his face toward her.

"Most places are getting pretty stuffy these days," she noted after a decently long pull from the drink. "Unfortunately."

[Tosath Nazora]

"Well, less so the past few days," the Arkanian observed. "With the Imperial troops heading off towards the mines."

[Fuff]

Fuff nodded, and had a remark at the tip of his tongue, but experience taught him to be careful. "Still, we all have to get by this way or another."

[Ryn Keesa]

"Suddenly heading out there I suspect just means they found something interesting," she replied with a shake of her head. "How long until more show up, I wonder."

She nodded in agreement with Fuff. "Yeah, true enough."

[Tosath Nazora]

"Must have been something extremely interesting to move so many that quickly. But yes, I'm sure we'll see reinforcements soon. Possibly more than the original garrison. If something that important was found they're likely going to want to send more support. May be a return to the days when the Imperial presence was largest." Tosath doesn't seem enthusiastic about the thought.

"I'm Doctor Tosath Nazora, by the way. Would be rude to not introduce myself."
