(D3 EN) I Could Pay You But...

[Varina Ordo]

Varina had already spoken with her Mandalorian compatriots about her little problem. And while she COULD give them part of the sum that she had just earned, she wasn't really about that life. After all, 1250 credits was equivalent to buying 25 grenades and she really liked grenades after using one earlier. Well, other than the aftermath. That was kind of bad.

And so, she waited for the Pykes to come to collect their due. But instead of being paid in credits, they'd be paid in blood. Or maybe bruises. She wasn't sure if it was smarter to beat them up or kill them.

[Raven Cadera]

Raven accompanied her sister, but wasn't quite sure what Varina was planning to do.

At least they were both in fighting condition from the fight earlier.

[Honor]

After some time, the Pyke representative arrived. With him he has four bodyguards and they walked out to flank him to offer their protection.

"You, you have your payment, yes?"

[Varina Ordo]

Varina shrugged. "I got paid for a gig earlier. You guys met up with me right when I was getting it, actually." She scratched her head. "Just to be sure, this ain't a payment, right? This is one and done deal?"

[Honor]

"It was a simple service, simple enough at least.. a one time payment is all we require and you can be certain that your debt is covered, but we will be certain to happily entertain further business," he smirked, "in the future."

[Varina Ordo]

Varina glanced at Raven. She wasn't actually expecting the "one and done" to be part of it. All of her cool catchphrases were going to be when the Pykes tried to screw her over!

[Raven Cadera]

Raven's expression was unreadable underneath the helmet as she crossed her arms.

"This is a Mandalorian you're dealing with. If you break your word and come pestering her again, you might get more than you bargained for."

[Honor]

"We are aware of your Order.. yes, even the specifics of your creed," the main one spoke. "We would not wish to make enemies of Mandalorians lightly. But a friendship, partnership for future endeavors. A.. degree of trust? Well, that is invaluable."

[Varina Ordo]

"I would hope you'd know us. I thought you owed my mom a favor or two." Varina had always overestimated her mother's influence or the Pyke's ability to care. "Let's talk about price then. What you're asking for is a high amount from a young woman who only wanted to be delivered."

[Honor]

"A high price, one that pays for the secrecy of being taken off world the young woman desired. Smuggled off her home-world with one of our shipments, the scrutiny your people place on shipments requires heavy bribes.." he said, walking forward and pacing a little in front of her. "In truth.. I would say that you should owe more, much more, for the price of what you asked of us but.. we were already smuggling off your home-world anyway. Your request came at an.. opportune time. Besides.. you are not just some young woman, you are a Mandalorian as you have said yourself.. you should be more than capable of paying back such a simple debt."

[Varina Ordo]

"Okay." Varina said. There were a lot of words being thrown around and she was starting to be convinced that paying them wasn't the worst idea ever.

If they had been just a bit meaner. Maybe this is why her mom consorted with them. "Here's 1000 credits," she said, with all the fake certainty that this was the debt.

[Honor]

"That is not the full debt," the Pyke bristled, "are you playing with us child?"

[Varina Ordo]

"It was really loud and... It was worth a shot." Varina smiled, like a kid caught with her hand in a cookie jar. She produced the 1250 credits. "Uh, so, do I just call you later if I want a job or something?"

[Honor]

Greedily collecting the credits the Pyke smiled, "Of course.. for a Mandalorian," he said, looking between the both of them, "well, the Syndicate can always find a job for such capable individuals."

[Raven Cadera]

Raven with her arms folded across her chest watched the exchange, silent but trying to look as intimidating as she could. I need to get myself some proper armor. Looks scarier than this scrap.

"The debt's settled at least," she commented as the payment had been given in full.

[Varina Ordo]

"Yup," Varina said. She scratched her head and looked back to Raven for a bit. Then she looked to the Pyke. "So... Uh, you guys fight in the Clone Wars?" Small talk was a good thing to blow over a deal, right?

[Honor]

The Pyke looked to Varina, smiled, and then merely took his credits and left. With his guards filtering out behind him.

"Oh. I guess that's one was to say goodbye." Varina glanced at Raven. "Shouldn't he say something like... 'I should go?'"

When the Pykes left both Mandalorians felt something, instinctual in their blood. This was a city street and it was much alike a jungle in many ways and in that way, they heard the silence of the city around them. A silence that permeated and put them on edge.

The matchstick snapped.

"Over there!" a Stormtrooper yelled, supported by another as they entered into view of Varina, behind Raven.
