Roxi had *extensive* experience dealing with Jawa growing up. Said experience meant she *knew* exactly what to expect when she came here looking for some cheap supplies and maybe some information. The tiny species had quite the reputation of course, but so long as you knew what was up, they wouldn't swindle you *too* much. Besides, she needed a glowrod; and while they were cheap enough for her to afford back in town, she figured the Jawa might know a thing or two about the old CIS base that was supposed to be around here.

With that, she approached the local Jawa merchants, and started haggling price for an old glowrod as well as some field rations if they had some just in case. She used a surprising amount of Jawaese in the process, and used the negotiation as an opportunity to try and fish for some information.

"Hey, I know I'm not buying a lot. But I'm going scavenging, and when I come back I'll give you guys a good deal yes? The old base around here? Must still be good stuff in there somewhere, yes? Maybe too dangerous for Jawa to get?"

Jawa traders were delighted to see this clear off-worlder speaking their tongue. Happily conversing with her over the whole process of the trade about each item and it's worth. Long-winded explanations and stories of how it came to be. When all was said and done they charged her a fortune for the glow-rod because they'd had so few and in reparation gave her some food for the journey for almost nothing.

"Old base, yes! Much that was deep, too deep for the Jawa. Big, scary droids! Many deactivated, much history! We took what we could, stripped the entrance bare. More inside! Much more, certainly. Just deep, very deep. Hard for Jawa to get to. Tolek said "no go" down one passage, bad stuff. Dark history. Jawa-friend careful, yes?"

[They charge Roxi 45 credits for the Glowrod and 10 credits for all 3 rations, yes it's the same amount.]

[Roxi]

They were obviously fleecing her. She knew it. But so long as she got some more useful information out of it, it'd be okay, she figured. Although this was really straining her already limited supply of credits.

"What bad stuff? Dark history? You tell me, maybe I can then come back with word it is safe now, yes? I'm big and tough. Maybe you can give me something, make it easier to make it safe for Jawa to salvage?"

[Honor]

The jawa waved his arms vehemently, "No pay, no stuff. Jawa-friend knows this! Not know what inside! Just know to not go. Offer you well wishes? Ten credits for Jawa-friend!"

[Roxi]

"But I don't have any more credits! You already got them all! But think, if you help me, chances of me being succesful go up. If I'm succesful, that means you get more stuff to salvage. It's a good deal, yes?"

[Honor]

"Too much, too much," the jawa shook his head. Crossing his arms in front of him, "Nothing to give! Know nothing what Jawa-friend face. Can't give freely, waste! Waste!"

[Roxi]

"Wait, but if you can't give freely, that means you know *something*, even though you said you don't!"

She crossed her arms, subconsciously mimicking the Jawa's bodylanguage.

"It's not giving freely either! Think of it as... an *investment*. Is smart!"

[Honor]

"Can't give stuff freely! No good investment if not know what Jawa-friend face! Jawa-friend might be weighed down needlessly! Bad investment!" he said energetically.

[Roxi]

"Well, then I can't give you a good deal on whatever I find that I'm willing to sell," she said, almost just as energetically.

[Honor]

"Jawa make deals! Jawa-friend will come, Jawa-friend will barter! We will see what Jawa-friend offers when the time comes!" they said, crossing their arms defiantly. Decidedly.

[Roxi]

She sighed, "If I come back you'd better have a better deal for me than 45 credits for a glowrod," she said.

[Honor]

"We gave you food! Jawa-friend not happy with food? Such cheap food. Cheaper than the city!" he said energetically, and although he had no idea how much they'd charge but he wasn't wrong!

[Roxi]

"Well, I haven't eaten it yet so I don't know if it's worth what you charged. But I'm pretty sure that even with the discount on the food you still overcharged me in total. But that's okay, you told me where to go. But if I come back with good salvage, well, my turn to charge good price, yes?"

[Honor]

Raising his arms the Jawa shrugged. With business seemingly concluded he moved to go make a deal with another scavenger who cam to sell scrap, or perhaps even more exciting make a purchase!!

[Roxi]

She sighed, and sat down in the sand for a few moments, before being on her way.

Jawa in the camp scurried about their business around her. It was a veritable hive of activity around her for what few other non-Jawa there were here. Yet, business kept moving and for a while she wasn't a part of it. Just a simple bystander.
