Hey, I hope you had a good time your first pbp game!
I don't believe we ever crossed paths. Tell me a little about Clay! What sort of things went into creating him? Were you happy with how things turned out for him?

It was a lot to take in. Someone didn't say me much until the day before game starting... lol.
It's based a lot around me. I watch racing a ton, and I was working to get into an Indy Car team or some such. I've been building my own computers for 15 years now, building other random things for a long time. Clay's quarks, like everything being just so was a good character flaw for engineer types. His being secretive is because he would do the espionage job for Clan Wren, no honor among Thieves and he has latent force abilities. I love Sentinels too.
Yes, I am happy with how things worked out, except for things Jyrvess. I really wish Clay and her had met much sooner...

I just have to ask, since I am curious...
What made you decide on playing a Mandalorian, paired with the Sentinel-Artisan character concept? I felt a bit mean for Raven being so... sceptical about Clay's worth as a Mandalorian, but on the other hand I think both the player and character was mostly like "this is a very dangerous life for you to live since you're so skinny and frail" and were worried if he was even going to live through some of the events that happened.
A Mandalorian without much combat-prowess is an unusual sight, so I'm just curious about what brought about the idea of going that route. Was it going to be a point of struggle for Clay as a character to overcome not being taken seriously by his fellow Mandos?

Yeah, I for some reason decided Artisan instead of Bounty Hunter gadgeteer. The people I play with, they always play dps, so I wanting to be good with Mech and Computer checks. I didn't expect so many different classes like this. So, I had the whole concept really being a Mando Offshoot into racing. Racing in the Star Wars setting is dangerous too.
I was going to spec into a combat class once I got dedication for agility. Once we figured out what I didn't do at character creation, that helped too. Is there a single class that the Foundry master in The Mandalorian would work? That was the idea of what I was trying to create. And she was lanky too...

And yet the Forgemaster in The Mandalorian was quite badass in melee and she seemed for sure very fit and muscular underneath the armor (just not bulky muscular).
If I were to make a character like the Forgemaster there, I'd look at the following:
Armorer. Guardian Spec for the Force Sensitive option. I personally consider this one superior to the Artisan when it comes to a Force Sensitive spec for crafting-stuff.
Pros: Mystical stuff. Gets Toughened and Grit (2 ranks of each), Armor Master (including Improved and Supreme, Tinkerer, Inventor, Gearhead, Imbue Item, and Reinforce Item. Also has Dedication and +1 Force Rating.
Cons: Falling Avalance and Lightsaber Throw are kind of useless without a Lightsaber. The Lightsaber skill is also no use unless you're getting an Ancient Sword for your melee option, but you're probably better off investing in the Melee skill?
Gadgeteer. Which you already touched on earlier. It removes the mystical option, so if you want that it's for sure a secondary choice, but as a secondary spec could work well. Overall Bounty Hunter career and its specialization is very good and opens up useful Career-skills.
Pros: Gets Toughened, Armor Master (Improved, but not Supreme), 2 ranks of Jury Rigged, 1 of Tinkerer, Spare Clip and Deadly Accuracy.
Cons: It is a Melee focused type, as its talents rely on being in Melee (Defensive Stance, Stunning Blow), or at least close to it (Point Blank).
Modder. Another non-Force variant. It's not my top pick, but if combined with any of the two previously mentioned, I think it could work well. It's biggest drawbacks is that it has Talents related to vehicles and spaceships, so if that's not your thing it's not great, but if Clay wants to really dedicate himself to the pod-racing too, then that could work.
Pros: Signature Vehicle, 3 ranks of Tinkerer, 1 rank of Toughened, 2 ranks of Jury Rigged, Hidden Storage, and Natural Tinkerer. Know Somebody can help with getting parts and attachements, which works well with Resourceful Refit.
Cons: Apart from Gunnery, lacks in combat proficiency, the Vehicle-related talents lean a bit more toward Starships and less toward planetary vehicles.

If you're already Force Sensitive, Armorer is super good, and the lightsaber only stuff isn't in places where you can't avoid it.

Yeah, I really can't stress enough of how good Armorer is. As both a main spec and a secondary spec. It lacks in some of the versatility talents (like say Brace or Conditioned), but the rest of the tree is so damn good I can't really complain.Manny Donos wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 2:58 amIf you're already Force Sensitive, Armorer is super good, and the lightsaber only stuff isn't in places where you can't avoid it.
