Pokosta Evening Gala [Day 4, Late Evening, Roleplay]

[Lassa Tenro]

"A busy bee," he commented, approaching up to her side. Taking a bite of some arranged food on a small stick.

She smiled a half smile and nodded her head politely. "Evening Agent Divo."

[Grand]

"Oh, mister Grand," she said, swallowing the bit of space-lobster on toast she'd inserted into her mouth just seconds earlier. Then did the same to the piece of toast with space-lobster on it she was holding in her other hand.

"Well, I did a job for Mr.Pokosta a while back you know," she said, mid-chew, "So you know... figured it was polite to show up."

"Please, just Grand," he says with a wave of his hand. "However, working for Chos Pokosta as well? You've your hands into a lot of matters I would not expect. Though.." he shook his head, "no, I suppose I could see you looking after his son. Chos does like to have that degree of.. separation from his sons antics."

[Jyrvess Ertil]

Jyrvess sighed, she was over a barrel at the moment...and presumably wealthier anyways. She handed the little Mandolarian seven credits. "Very well. And yes I have met Luke, had a drink together."

[Manny Donos]

"Anyways, it's supposed to be every week. So time to pay up." Varina gave her best impression of a bully. She nudged Manny with her foot; it was his time to shine.

"What?" Manny said, frowning down at her foot, then back up at Varina, frowning. Then grimacing. This was why, as a magician, he always worked out what his signals meant first.

He cleared his throat, frowning again as money changed hands. "Yeah, that's right. A drink. What I mean, uh, how do the two of you know each other?"

[Varina Ordo]

Well, Manny didn't stop her from mugging the librarian. This complicated things. He really needed to up his game and be super manly in beating up a teenager for stealing a lady's money.

Did he even like her? Well, they did drink together. That was an adult thing to do together. "She got lost in my part of town. Now she pays me for the service of being her guide."

[Roxi]

"Please, just Grand," he says with a wave of his hand. "However, working for Chos Pokosta as well? You've your hands into a lot of matters I would not expect. Though.." he shook his head, "no, I suppose I could see you looking after his son. Chos does like to have that degree of.. separation from his sons antics."

"Oh yes," she was looking around for more of those 'horse dorfs'. Specifically the space-lobster kind. She had gotten kind of addicted to that stuff the past week. "It was just a one time thing apparently. I was hoping he'd send more work our way. You know, for our *stuff*. More credits, more stuff, with which i can do more other stuff, to learn the stuff."

She thought she was being pretty subtle.

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"Yes...guide," she sighed, "Technically protection money. She's my... bodyguard. Of a sort."

The matchmaking was lost on Jyrvess, being someone who tended to process social queues like a computer. So flags for 'try to set someone up with a date' and 'trying to make Manny look manly' were raised. The connection of 'trying to set me up with Manny the gallant' however never computed.

[Manny Donos]

As for Manny, he just didn't pick up on a lot of things.

Manny made a face. "Varina. You don't have a part of town. You just got here."

He jerked his head back towards Jyrvess. "C'mon. She's a friend. Don't extort money from friends." He considered a moment. "Although you can ask them for a little to get by if you need it. But then you owe them!"

[Varina Ordo]

"Oh yeah?" Varina asked, crossing her arms at Manny, "What are you going to do about it? Hmm?"

She turned to Manny completely, giving him a wink with the eye farther from Jyrvess. He had to get it now, right?

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"It's alright, she's just a..." Jyrvess almost said 'child' but thought better of it, "...young entrepreneur. I'm helping a local business."

Her eyes swept out over the crowd, landing on a well dressed fellow at the food table. Like recognizes like, Jyrvess had heard...and the man made her skin crawl. ISB? Or Intel? ISB...too visible to be anything else. Did he see me?

Jyrvess shifted to put more people between her and one Alder Divo. Which probably looked weird to her two conversation partners.

[Solork Tan]

Solork looks a bit uncomfortable, but does his best to mingle in. The previous work with Pokosta had offered excuse enough to be here, and the chance to look for new employment was a good enough cover story.

That wasn't the reason he was here.

There was a rumor to chase down, and one of these rich scumbags had to know the answer.

[Manny Donos]

"Oh yeah?" Varina asked, crossing her arms at Manny, "What are you going to do about it? Hmm?"

She turned to Manny completely, giving him a wink with the eye farther from Jyrvess. He had to get it now, right?

"Uh..." Enlightenment lit in Manny's eyes, to the extent that Varina was doing some kind of con, anyway. "I'm gonna get you to give her her money back." He was firm... but not too firm. The only way for a grown man to stand up to a teenage girl and not look like a jerk was to exude dad energy; Manny did his best.

"It's alright, she's just a..." Jyrvess almost said 'child' but thought better of it, "...young entrepreneur. I'm helping a local business."

He frowned, looking at the two ladies (or lady and kid) as they both shifted in different directions. This was a weird conversation. "Uh... did you guys want to stand somewhere else?"

[Fuff]

Fuff wandered about, sharing soundbites.

[Ters Tii]

"Ters Tii," Pokosta turned slightly from his current conversation with a few guests. "Join us. We were just discussing the state of the galaxy," he said, and as he did the others made room for him to join their little circle.

The other Kel Dor nodded and moved into the scrum. "And how were we finding it," he asked politely, his hands spreading in greeting and to suggest friendliness, a hint of wry chuckle echoing in his rebreather.

[Varina Ordo]

"Fine, fine," Varina said, handing the money back to Jyrvess, "You're lucky Manny... was here to help ya out this time." The pause being because she didn't want to throw 'No-Girlfriend' in there.

Varina shrugged and started meandering around, keeping her eyes and ears open. At this point, she had already made Manny out to be the hero. Her job was done... for now.

[Jyrvess Ertil]

Once the teenager had left, Jyrvess had a sudden realization. It was a bizarre idea... popping in between her fears of discovery and attempts to hear those around her.

"Hang on. Did she just try to make you look cool?" Her expression was one of confusion then suspicion, "What sort of game are you playing, Luke?"

[Manny Donos]

"Huh?" Manny raised his hands, smiling. "Hey, I'm not playing a game. Well, earlier I was pretending to be Alderaanian royalty, but not right now. Varina was... being a teen girl, I guess."

He glanced around, then leaned a little closer. "The question is, what kind of game are you worried I'm playing? Oh, and call me Manny. It's my name, after all." He gave her a friendly smile; perhaps that piece of honesty would reassure her.

[Honor]

She smiled a half smile and nodded her head politely. "Evening Agent Divo."

"A good evening to you, Ms. Tenro," he said, offering her his hand. "Are you here on behalf of Governor Talcik or is this a personal affair?"

A skilled operator, or blind to what ever else was going on in the room, it would be impossible to tell which to the laymen but someone who's been in his line of work would certainly have a better grasp of which.

Without much waiting Grand made his way off to find another woman, but this one he knew had to be here somewhere.

"A good evening to you, Ms. Tenro," he said, offering her his hand. "Are you here on behalf of Governor Talcik or is this a personal affair?"

A skilled operator, or blind to what ever else was going on in the room, it would be impossible to tell which to the laymen but someone who's been in his line of work would certainly have a better grasp of which.

“The invitation no doubt came due to my connection with the governor, but it’s as personal as things are allowed to be at the moment I suppose.” She said with a soft smile.

“You on duty, sir? I suppose one in the ISB is never fully off duty.”
