[D8, EE] So I Said Doctor, Is There Nothing I Can Take?

With all the trouble lately, including his first brush with genuine resistance operations and a rather difficult experience involving fire and impertinent questions, Ters had spent the last few days on an inward journey. He was not accustomed to this sort of thing, but the visions weren't asking his permission. So he made his way down to Fa'ka Parka, to the doctor who's recommendation of a bar started this mess. Pausing just inside the doorway, he inquired "Is Doctor Nazora in?"

"I am," he replied, as he came up from behind having just left a different room and followed Ters. "What's going on Ters?"

Ters, who in previous weeks might have been startled, turned to face Tosath just before he spoke. "Ah, yes, I see. Good to see you, doctor. As for the problem, it's...well, actually, I think it might be best to discuss this discreetly. That is, if you don't mind."

"That's fine," he says, leading the way to a quiet spot. There were plenty of places in the shelter he could go to speak privately about medical concerns so he moved to one of them with Ters and closed the door behind them.

Ters cleared his throat and spoke, the re-breather still creating the odd echo associated with Kel Dor. "I have been having odd...episodes, Tosath. Premonitions, really. I've had them before in the quiet way people do, you know. Feelings about things that are based on not much at all, turn out to be an undigested bit of beef, that sort of thing. But these...something is different. They aren't just feelings anymore. Visions, more like."
His hands twisted in front of him. "I don't feel mad, really, but one can't be too sure, nowadays. I thought you might have some idea..."

"Have you used any psychedelic medications or substances or have you been exposed to any unknown or potentially dangerous chemicals recently?" he asks, curious before pulling out his blood scanner to see if he had any foreign substances in his bloodstream.

"No...they rather frown on psychedelia in the bar association, and I don't believe that I've been exposed to any chemicals." Ters shook his head slowly in the negative.

He doesn't find anything with the scan so he tucks it away. "Have you ingested anything new or foreign that smelled strange? Have you had any fevers or headaches in the time leading up to the incidents?"

"No...a little stress during the raids but otherwise fine. No new foods or anything."

"Well, stress and anxiety can also lead to auditory and visual hallucinations. But usually it takes high stress and is more likely in folks with preexisting conditions related to their mental health which you don't have," he replies. "How frequent were the episodes and what were you doing at the time? Did you receive any head injuries recently during any of the raids?"

"No, no head injuries, though to my shame I was unable to prevent them for others. The feelings come frequently, multiple times an hour. I...felt you approach just a moment ago. The visions are much rarer, just the two in two weeks. But they last much longer, the first one two minutes, the second about ten."

"I could run some deeper tests in the KSF medical facilities, to try to rule out anything more unfortunate. There's a lack of apparent causes or other symptoms related to things like encephalitis, but a tumor or cyst could be developing that is creating pressure on the brain that could lead to hallucinations," he says. There were so many things that could alter a person's mental state and cause hallucinations.
"Alternatively, if it is something that's more... spiritual or mystical?... going on, I don't have any real knowledge that would be helpful. When I was on Coruscant as a child with my father, I met a Jedi knight once that said he sometimes felt things just before they happened. But I could not begin to explain how that works at all. While growing up and attending school for medicine, I mostly just wrote that off as intuition or exceptional senses."

Ters Tii's eyes widened. "One feels foolish saying it, but I am not certain whether the tumor would be worse than discovering one had a quality of the Jedi Knights. I have always felt much safer with me feet firmly on the ground." He sighed. "But if there is no tumor...that is a contingency I shall have to think on. The visions were violent, but not without...hope, I suppose, is the word."
