KSF Outreach Volunteer [Pre-Game]

[Tosath Nazora]

In the common area of Fa'ka Parka, where food is served to the homeless, Tosath sits at a table with his medpac kit laid out. He is currently looking over an elderly human and conversing with him, the two apparently quite well acquainted. It couldn't be clearer from their differences in dress that they are from two very different classes and ways of life, but the Arkanian somehow doesn't seem completely out of place. Folks stop walk by and greet him, and he returns the greetings amiably. He was clearly no stranger to this place and his presence is mostly appreciated. After a few more words, and an inoculation of some sort from the medpac, he sends the elderly man on his way to get something to eat and waits for whoever wishes to see him next. They all knew the drill, or would have it explained by those that have more experience, that Dr Nazora wasn't here for aid, but to provide aid.

Stepping through the shelter's front door is a tall Kel Dor, his bearing approachable, but showing signs of stress. He speaks quietly with a staff member at the door and is shown to a seat not far from the medical area, where he produces a handkerchief and carefully wipes perspiration from his wrinkled brow. The staff member, meanwhile, begins to consult a machine at the front desk.

Nodding to the man as he takes a seat nearby, Tosath greets him with a nod. He pulls out a scanner from the medpac and starts with some basic scans. "Not feeling well judge?"

Ters bowed his head, his gentle voice still echoing slightly with the breathing device. "No, doctor. I have felt a flutter in my chest that will not still, and a weight on my shoulders that cannot be shifted."

[Tosath Nazora]

"Have you noticed any issues with the fit of your mask? That could be a symptom of minor oxygen poisoning if there is a small leak in your re-breather's seal. I'm not picking that up with the medical scanner though. It might also be an onset of stress as well. There's plenty of that going around with the unexplained move of the Imperial garrison to the mines," he says in a friendly tone. "Your not letting that get to you are you Ters?"

[Ters Tii]

Ters' talons scratched lightly against the armrests of his seat. "I...have some concerns, it is true." He met the doctor's eyes. "One might have expected the stifling feeling in the upper districts to decrease with the garrison's departure, but it has only grown. And old friends seem to have changed their stripes these past few months. It is all so very...tiresome, Tosath."

[Tosath Nazora]

"For political stress I recommend an evening of entertainment and 100 milliliters of your favorite brandy," he says with a warm smile. "There is nothing we can do about the Empire taking unexplained actions other than care for others that are also scared. Frightened people will act less rationally and that will make both of our lives harder and more stressful. We just have to try and find calm and relaxation where we can and be ready for the next day and the headaches it throws our way."

He pats his patient on the shoulder. "We'll get through this uneasy time."

[Ters Tii]

"I do hope that you are right." Clickety-click went the nails on the armrest. "I don't suppose you have a recommendation for a place with good music? Not to dance to, of course, but just to listen."

[Tosath Nazora]

"Not really. I usually go to Korso's and they have music sometimes, but it's mostly just a place to drink in quiet for me. Not too far from home either," he says. "You've been here longer than I have, and I never really liked going out. My relaxation comes from helping out the folks here."

[Ters Tii]

"A worthy outlook, Torath." The skin around his goggles crinkled in what passed for a Kel Dor smile. "One should take some solace in their work. I do, when I am not second-guessed by certain "gentlemen" in stiff collars." He shook his head. "Perhaps you are right about needing a little medicinal drink."

[Tosath Nazora]

"I don't envy your job. Interpreting the law is much less clear cut than practicing medicine. I get someone in with an illness and I just need to follow procedure to make them feel better. There's often multiple ways of doing things that other docs might argue with me about, but when the patient gets better the debate usually ends. For you, even after the decision is made, you can still get arguments about what's right and wrong from people that don't agree. Long as people get better under my care, most people won't argue with my actions after the fact."

[Ters Tii]

"It is curious. I never used to get arguments, before the current administration arose." Ters bowed his head. "It seems equitable arbitration is distasteful to the new state." He paused. "I have not given up on my colleagues just yet, but mark my words, Torath, what began in the the legal profession will find its way into education and into medicine soon enough."

[Tosath Nazora]

"Times change, sometimes for the worse, sometimes for the better, and sometimes they're just different. They've changed many times before and will change many times again. Nothing can be done about that. We just have to make do with what we have and do our best to live our lives."

[Ters Tii]

Ters looked past the Arcadian. "Change does not occur in a vacuum, it occurs because men and women make it happen." He rose slowly. "It is probably safest to wait for someone else to do it, but what do we do when no one is willing?"

Ters reached out to shake Torath's hand. "Thank you, my friend, for the checkup. I should go and fetch my prescription."

[Tosath Nazora]

"There are always people willing to change things. What they need is others to show them how things can be different, give that will a direction," he returning the handshake. "Someone with the will to lead. That's much rarer, but I've seen it. Take care of yourself Ters. Don't be a stranger."

[Ters Tii]

"I couldn't stay away. You are the only doctor I've met who encourages my vices. It is far too endearing." He nods again and makes his departure.
