Not So-Empty Roads (Day 1 EA)

[Jyrvess Ertil]

Jyvress wasn't sure why she had come back here. It was crowded, patrolled, and she had no real business. But guilt was gnawing at her again, guilt and doubt.

Father?

She had heard his voice clear as day and yet he was no where to be found. Jyvress shook her head and kept walking. It was stupid, her father being here was not improbable it was impossible. After all she knew all too well where he was...and why.

Hoping to clear her mind she turned to window browsing, with low funds there was little that would be bought today. It made her look less suspicious though and that was a plus.

[Leah kuso]

From what had been a productive morning for the less fortunate (which she reasoned didn't count her because her fortune wasn't quite that bad!), Leah decided to do a little window shopping. It was always fun to imagine herself in all the pretty outfits, buying some of the expensive cakes and sweets... she sighed softly.

One day.

Rather lost in her own thoughts, she missed that another girl seemed to be doing much the same and just managed to avoid bumping into her.

"Oops!" She said in a little surprise, coming to a stop just in front of the human woman "sorry!"

[Jyrvess Ertil]

Jyvress jumped a little at the near collusion. "Ah...sorry," She stepped back and brushed herself off...even though nothing really had happened. "I should have been paying better attention."

She managed a nervous smile.

[Leah kuso]

"It's ok! Despite walking through these streets every day I still get lost in the windows" Leah chuckled, a little embarrassed "don't think I've seen you around here, you new?"

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"Well, I suppose you could say that." Jyvress sighed, "Umm...not sure how long exactly, but only a few weeks."

"It's an impressive shopping district."

[Leah kuso]

"You don't know how long you've been here?" Leah was slightly surprised "I hope you've not been lost in this district the whole time! I work and live around here, so I know what you mean. I prefer it here than in the upper class areas honestly. What you looking for?" the Twi'lek tilted her head "maybe I can help?"

[Jyrvess Ertil]

Jyvress shrugged, "Time flies when you are having fun? I've been traveling the Outer Rim, so I suppose this would be a perfect trap for the curious tourist." She relaxes a little, "But I am not looking to buy anything in particular. Partly just people watching and partly just seeing what's on offer."

[Leah kuso]

"Well, as a Kamda native, welcome to our happy little planet!" Leah spread her arms out in a welcoming fashion, giving the woman a big smile "if you're looking for entertaining places, the best place in the city is a little further up from here called Lux. It's a great nightclub, and I'm not just saying that because I work there I swear" she giggled "I'm Leah by the way."

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"I remember walking past it." She looks down the street in the direction of the Lux, "It looked nice but...not really my sort of place." Her current amount of cash being insufficient for anything fancier then the low end dives....

"I'm Jyrvess, and thank you. It's been a pleasant experience so far and surprisingly friendly. A lot of places I have visited are bit more...close knit, distrustful of outsiders."

[Leah kuso]

"There's a saying in the city; anyone can be best friends with any wallet, no matter which system it comes from" Leah said with a small look of distaste at the saying "and it's pretty true. Don't matter where you come from, as long as you have what people want. Which in most parts is money, but if you're willing to roll up your sleeves and put in some work you can also get by. Staying in the city long? A few weeks is a vacation length for many, but you seem set on here, you have that look about you that says 'i'm comfortable now'."

[Jyrvess Ertil]

"Well..." She lets out a nervous chuckle, "One might say I didn't plan the vacation out very well, so this leg is going to be a bit longer."

Jyrvess crossed her arms and pondered something for a moment, "Hmm odd question but have you seen a older man around here...would be a little taller then me. With graying black hair and a stern look. Would probably give on the impression of...well military sort of man." She looks behind her at all the people in the streets and immediately finds several that vaguely match that description. "Err well, never mind dumb question."

[Leah kuso]

Leah chuckled, nodding in the direction.

"What kind of military we talking. There's plenty of old retired folks here, although I'd say I know most or at least could point you in a direction if you give me a bit more than old military guy. Hell for all I know you could be talking about Governor Talcik, he's old and graying."

[Jyrvess Ertil]

She waves it off, "Ah no, no forget it. I had thought I heard an old acquaintance while walking the streets the other day. I can't imagine him being out here."

"So you work at the Lux? Sorry if its a bit forward but how is employment there?"

[Leah kuso]

"Huh. I can kind of relate I think, although I know the person I thought I heard isn't alive so" Leah shrugged "maybe you just miss him, and something here reminded you of him? Like we said, tons of old graying guys."

At the question, Leah took a moment to look the woman over before saying "you get a lot of exercise and a lot of attention. Both the right and wrong kind, but dancing on a stage does that. The outfits help that too though. You much of a dancer?"

[Jyrvess Ertil]

Jyvress was idly listening at first, "Well I'm not much of a dancer, nor all that agile." She starts to laugh when the first part of the Twi'lek's response resolved. Her eyes widened and she went pale for a moment. "What did you say? You heard a person who was dead?"

[Leah kuso]

"Maybe bar work would suit you then? I assume you're looking for a job?" Leah asked, then frowned slightly "uh...yeah, sorry. You can ignore that if you want. I sometimes feel like I can hear my fathers voice. I know, sounds crazy, but I'm not crazy I swear."

[Jyrvess Ertil]

Jyrvess's eyes went distant, her first clutching the fabric of her coat. After a moment she relaxed, her face still pale, "No...its fine. My apologies if the question made you uncomfortable." She fixed the Twi'lek's eyes with her own, letting a little sadness intrude on the sincerity in them, "And for your father."

"Maybe...and yes I am, though in truth I was a librarian. So most of my talents are more information management then polite conversation."

[Leah kuso]

Leah tilted her head. It clearly wasn't fine. She placed her hand on Jyrvess's arm.

"What's wrong? Talk to me, maybe I can help? Or do you need somewhere less crowded to speak? My apartment is nearby."

[Jyrvess Ertil]

Jyvress gently lifts Leah's hand off her arm, "Ah no. Your words just brought back a few old memories. My father died two years ago." She pauses in thought, "Sometimes it still weighs on me. Sorry for the worry, Mrs Leah."

[Leah kuso]

"Ah."

Leah lowered her head.

"I'm sorry for your loss. Lost my parents about ten years ago, but still hurts when I think about it sometimes."

She looked at the stores, trying to think about a distraction, before adding "hey want to get some lunch? There's a food place near here that does acceptable noodles."
