(D3 EM) More Like Great Morning

[Varina Ordo]

Varina poured out her Special Mix, a little bit of each type of cereal. She walked around, munching on it, looking for the big cheese himself. Well he called himself that, even if she wasn't sure. It also made her wonder how cereal would taste with cheese.

Eventually, she would find him in a chamber. A chamber meant for training against one another, practice weapons and not adorned the side but sand was spilled out in the center of an arena. There, with the light barely making it through the largely blocked vent at the apex of the domed room, Mandalore stood and waited for her.

"Hey," Varina announced, like an aloof teenager. She ate a bit of cereal, chewed, and then swallowed. "Uh, were you just standing here waiting for me the whole time?"

[Mandalore]

"This morning? Yes, I used the time to think on our troubles, as a people," he replied.

[Varina Ordo]

Varina ate another mouthful. Chewed. Swallowed. "What if I, like, went on a walk though?"

[Mandalore]

"Would you have?" he asked, maintaining his stance.

[Varina Ordo]

"Maybe? I like to see the sights when I eat breakfast sometimes." Varina finished up her cereal and looked at the bowl. She wasn't sure where she was going to put it. "I might have come by in like the afternoon."

[Mandalore]

Mandalore thought, shifted the weapon in his hand, and then spoke, "Well, you are here. You came as requested and your.. meal, is finished. I would ask you to step forward, arm yourself as you wish, and approach."

[Varina Ordo]

"Okay," Varina said. She placed her bowl and spoon by the weapon rack and picked out the biggest practice weapon that she could carry. It was probably meant for at least a grown man but she wanted it anyways.

After all, she was mainly used to fighting with knives so something new would be cool.

[Mandalore]

"Approach me when you have prepared yourself, I will test you with the full of my ability that we might test the limits of your possibility and that you may see what one day you may achieve," he said, preparing himself in a non-traditional stance. "Try to strike me, young one. Do not fear."

"Okay." Varina must have done something right because she went from her often-lost self to ready for battle. She swung the heavy weapon with some amount of skill at the man who would call himself Mandalore. It was by no means graceful...

Yet, her approach struck and he laughed a hearty laugh, "Excellent!" he shouted, her off-position allowing him to rip the weapon from her hand. Tossing it back to her he said, "You must sturdy yourself. Make yourself aware of your strike and your surroundings. Focus your mind," he said.

"Now, again!" he shouted.

Varina grunted, spun on her heel, and did another grand swing. This one was as if there were more around to ward off.

"You are good, child! You fight with the strength of a Mandalorian!" he said, his voice booming from the excitement. For the next while, hour or so, he would continue to inspire her to strike him in different ways. Adding in his comments and correcting behaviors he noticed in her form. By the end of it she was exhausted and he needed just a bit of a breath.

"You perform well, Varina. A true Mandalorian, gifted to the state of battle as I expected. As one of us you will grow into a warrior that will shape the galaxy around you," he boasted confidently.

Varina wished she had a lighter combat jacket. It was kind of a cool jacket, at least to her, but man it could get sweaty in it.

Her tummy complained a bit from the recently consumed Special Mix. But, as luck would have it, she wasn't the type to eat that much in the first place.

"I just wish I could have started sooner."

[Mandalore]

"It was only when I left home that I found a proper mentor, one who taught me combat in such a way as that I had never experienced prior. You are not behind, and you will excel past all others if you continue to accept my teaching, my guidance," he said.
