Civil Disobedience [Day 2, EE-LE]

by Honor
Event Type: Simple
Participants: All
Timeslot: EE-LE, pick one.

Not all heroes wear capes, nor do they always appear very heroic.

Word spreads fast, and the word on the street is an Imperial officer has returned, backed by Kamda security. They have come to question any and everyone around Favna where they say someone who threatens peace has been found and assaulted an officer. However the street tells a different story, a story of a young girl who stood up to an Imperial officer whom overstepped. Now, the people of Kamda are being hounded unfairly for information, everyone is being called into question.

Event:

Suggestions circle around, and though it isn't certain many walk with the belief that Nerra guides their hand, leaving only what is known to be the general idea which is that this cannot stand and information that might lead the Imperials toward the girl might cause an innocent to lose their freedom, or even their life. As such there is only one response, one that can keep most folk out of jail as long as they don't err too greatly. Halt the Imperial's investigation, stall their progress, and ultimately ensure that the girls tracks are completely covered.

All results of this event will grant advantage to the Covert Faction.

Disrupt Imperial Investigations:

There are many options, many paths, that one may take cover up the girls tracks. Which way do you choose?
(Clarification: Roll only one)

Passive Checks are made at Average: [2 Purple]

Charm:
Some people are yet on the fence about if they should step in or not, convince them. Allow them to see the benefit resisting this investigation brings to the spirit of Kamda.

Leadership:
Some lack the will to refuse to offer information to the Empire. With a strong show of leadership, perhaps even a rousing praise for the spirit of Kamda and acknowledgement of the virtues of any group of people, protecting the young from dangerous threats, they might be emboldened to refuse aid and claim no knowledge.

Negotiation:
You've spent all your life talking with merchants, learning how to haggle to save yourself a few credits. Did you know that skill can be used to help keep a young girl out of the clutches of the Empire? Well, try to haggle for a good deal with the Empire before providing them with some accurate if largely bogus information, or that which is ultimately unhelpful to the investigation.

Deception:
Telling lies is a useful skill, when dealing with peoples perceptions. Making a convincing story for what you "truly" believe happened with the girl may just convince investigators enough to follow your lead. It's a real shame you don't really know what happened.

Survival:
You've seen prey escape hundreds of time, and you know how to follow tracks. Boot prints, they are all different and the path may yet lead investigators to some potentially important information. Perhaps... if it was just an unfortunate accident, those tracks might get muddied a bit by the nature of being present in a big city?

Athletics:
You're big. You're strong. Whichever it is, both maybe? Move stuff around. Any real testimonies they receive may just prove to be inaccurate if they oriented their direction based off these notable objects. Surely this too can muddy the information investigators gather further.

Active Checks are made at Average with an Upgrade: [1 Purple, 1 Red]

Computers:
You know how to work a computers system. Find a port, hack in, and delete what you can.

Skullduggery:
Steal evidence, you've done it before perhaps to tidy up a personal problem. Difference is when you claim it was for a good cause this time you won't really be lying!

Coercion:
You're tough, you're angry, and the people around you are worried more about themselves than someone who is vulnerable and being hunted by the Empire. They may even be true patriots, pathetic. No true resident of Kamda would allow this to pass. Remind them what is right, use a little force if you have to. Ends justify the means and you're not going to really hurt anyone anyway.

Results:
Success' and failed rolls will be noted for the support during the event. Boosts, setbacks, triumphs, and potential despairs will all be dealt with on a case by case basis. All results gain support for the Covert Faction, just how much? This is an introductory event to the Tug of War between the two factions, don't fret the results so much.

Varina saw an opportunity to stir up some trouble! And what better way to use her knowledge of how people get found. She got a bucket of dirt, probably too unwieldy to usually be useful. But when she got up to some tracks, she flipped over the bucket and threw the dirt on the ground!

She looked around, wondering if people understood that she wasn't part of the system.

The doctor had been here for the incident, so he was questioned like everyone else. But he had nothing to share for the investigators. But before and after being questioned, he did quietly offer a few kind words to others in his situation. Words that suggested that it's best not to argue with the forces questioning them, though if there was nothing you could share then there's no reason to share them. Perhaps you couldn't share information because you didn't know anything. Perhaps you couldn't share information because you felt a sense of loyalty or responsibility to your community. Who could know? Only you.

Perhaps Fuff's messaging through singing performance lost its relevance amid drinks and chatter, but hey the audience still liked it!

There was a need for muscle, to move some crates and what-not around to block some passages and hide some others. It was easy work for Raven, who didn't ask too many questions, but she was more than happy to help someone who was giving the Empire what they deserved.

At some point she forgot the crucial lesson of lifting with the legs and not the back. She'd probably feel that one in the morning.

Jyvress knew what it was to be hunted by the Empire and she found herself growing bolder after the success with the food. Slipping back into one of the more discreet Imperial terminals she started her work. A faint smile, no smirk, formed on her lips. Two years and still using the old codes out here? Sloppy, sloppy. Her smile increased slightly as she read through the data. Soon the neat little report was filled with false leads, bad assumptions, and all tied up with a neat little false narrative. Given time the Imperials would untangle the mess...but her time inside had ingrained an appreciation for just how much damage wasted time can cause an operation.

Her work done she slipped back into the growing night. By now she was grinning and whistling, tweaking the nose of her former comrades had been..fulfilling. It reminded her of when she had first joined the Library, back in the days of the Republic.

The Karkarodon knew that it was through training the physical self, that could lead to a deeper understanding of the great mystery.

It just so happened that with his evening calisthenics, he moved a few sturdy landmarks. Maybe this sign was actually facing that way now after a few pull ups.

Ters, ensconced in the halls of power, used some of his influence to persuade a significant portion of the local government to either abet the disappearance of the defiant one, or simply to drag their feet if the Imperials came calling for resources or assistance. The legal consensus was that if this young person came before the courts, they would all be put in a terrible position. Better to ensure that that never happened.

Roxi didn't mind making things difficults for the imps; especially when it didn't require much smarts on her part, and just involved moving stuff about.

[Early Evening]

Normally, Solork found that his appearance could be a detriment. However, in this case, it was time to put it to use. Word had trickled in that a human was in the need of some cover, and the Slums had a way of obliging when people needed cover. He had to move quickly to that other job anyway, and would have a real alibi and excuse soon. If that happened to cloud up reports...well, all the better. In the end, it doesn't do much, but hey, his heart is in the right place.

Manny had nothing against tampering with a crime scene. That was pretty normal. I mean, he was a criminal, so that meant wherever he went was a crime scene, right?

He'd plan to just sneakily go in and out. But someone turned at just the wrong moment, leaving Manny standing there. "Uh..." Manny said, freezing in place.

In a blur, he reached into his vest. The trooper began to draw, but Manny had the drop on him, pulling out... an egg. The trooper paused, thoroughly confused.

Manny clapped his hands, but instead of cracking, the egg vanished! Manny coughed. "Uh... this is the part where a bird is supposed to appear, but I don't carry it with me."

Then he turned and ran away.

Still, the trooper was confused enough to not chase him.

It takes awhile to work, slicing Imp security systems normal are. "Done, and done..." All records of the girl pretty deleted. Now, Clay needs to make a hasty getaway, he may have left traces of the breach.

Euvid noticed a small alleyway that she had heard was on the route the girl took. Euvid moved some dumpsters and a few small conex containers to make it look convincingly impassable.

"No little girl could get over that," she thought.

If only moving the containers wasn't so noisy.

Azina happened to be in the right neighborhood this Early Evening. With a sudden surge in efforts to tidy and improve the alleys and other routes through the area, her sense of civic pride compelled her to assist.

It took the athletic Nautolan girl surprisingly little time to relocate a pair of ladders that were clearly knocked over by someone in a hurry. On one block, one was placed to suggest a vertical flight. The next block, a ladder was left leaning on a dumpster, suggesting an attempt to block to pursuit that way.

Fancy or strategic? Not really. But Az was proud of her creative contribution to the cause.

What better way to start the evening than with a little civil disobedience! Lysa stalked the streets, she had heard about the hunt for the girl and decided this was a cause worth breaking and entering for, not that she hadn't broken and entered for less, like stealing evidence of her own crimes or a burrito she saw through a window that looked yummy but at least now it was for a good cause.

It wasn't anything flashy, she got in the building stole some random stuff that looked important and snuck out. No frills no thrills so all in all a disappointingly boring job.

As far as the people of Kamda, or the Empire could tell the girl just simply vanished.. and the city seemed to literally change itself over the course of a few hours. Strange...
