Why can't magic move boxes? (D9 EA)

[Leah kuso]

"I think that's the last box!"

Leah, who was carrying the smallest box of the lot at this point, pointed to the one that were in the back of the mover they had rented for that quick job. Leah only had about five boxes of stuff total, which was much less than most people. However, she wasn't the strongest, so she'd let Manny be the gentleman and do most of the lifting.

"You're awesome you know" she gave him a sweet smile.

[Manny Donos]

"Ughhhhhh..." Manny said. He'd tried to be all manly, and carried the biggest box. He was managing, but it was obviously difficult for him. He thumped off the door frame, managed to set it down gently in the living room, and then flopped onto the arm of the couch, panting.

"Whew!" He said. "That, uh... really gets the blood moving." He winced, poking at his sore muscles delicately.

Still breathing heavily, he shot Leah a grin. "Who, me? Someone had to carry the box." He tilted his head, regarding her. "And you're pretty awesome yourself, you know."

[Leah kuso]

"I'm ok" Leah said dismissively, sitting on the couch putting her feet up on Mannys leg "thanks for helping though. And for like, everything. I'm really glad I met you, even if you're a little weird with the whole pockets full of eggs and all."

She stretched out a bit more.

"Mmh...so this is it now. Two magicians one apartment. Until we both get blown up for last nights mission."

[Manny Donos]

Manny chuckled. "Oh yeah, the eggs. I never did tell you about that, huh?" In lieu of responding to her dismissiveness, he gave her leg a gentle squeeze instead; easy to do, with her feet in his lap, after all.

He looked at her, smiling. "Blown up? You and me?" He shook his head. "Not gonna happen. We'll go do our thing, it'll be awesome, and then tomorrow morning we can do breakfast. What would you like? Scrambled? Over-easy? Uh... omelettes?"

[Leah kuso]

"You never did! So explain mister, why the eggs? Other than breakfast...you must be sick of eggs surely?" Leah laughed, laying back on the sofa and stretching.

"Mmh...this couch might be bigger than my old bed."

[Manny Donos]

"Well... it's kinda a habit." Manny shrugged sheepishly. "You see, I used to do an act where I'd turn an egg into a dove. And I'd carry an egg to show someone, so they'd be like 'yep, that's a real egg'. I had a fake egg, too."

The sheepish smile became even more sheepish. "But... it's actually really hard to take care of doves, you know? So I stopped doing the act... but I'd gotten used to the weight of the eggs, and I just kept carrying them. Pretty silly, huh?"

Manny looked down at her stretching out. "You think? Maybe in total size. But in useable area, well, we could actually lie down side by side. Pretty sure we'd have to stack up here." He grinned. "And you wouldn't have to put your feet on me." His fingers danced teasingly over her calves.

[Leah kuso]

Leah bit her lip to resist a giggle at the tickling.

"I think doves are pretty, but yeah hiding them in your clothes and raising them would be pretty difficult. Also you're a very good foot stool, so I don't mind putting my feet on you."

She shuffled over slightly, balancing on the edge of the couch.

"Go on then, let's see if you can lay down!"

[Manny Donos]

"Vex said something a lot like that to me once..." Manny frowned, trying to remember exactly what that was.

"Hmmm..." Manny looked at the available remaining space. "Okay, let's try it. I used to play a game like this, where you try to make lines with blocks. Here I come..."

Manny slowly toppled over. It was either going to be a very tight fit, or there wasn't going to be quite enough space...

[Leah kuso]

Leah giggled. There was nowhere near enough space, but she shuffled over slightly so Manny could start to squeeze in, before flailing as she overbalances on the edge.

"Eeeep!" She grabbed his arm as she fell off the couch!

[Manny Donos]

"Whoops!" Manny laughed as Leah grabbed his arm, even as he reached out to grab her around the waist. Unfortunately, rather than keep her from falling, it just overbalanced him. "Whoops..." He said again as first Leah went over, and them him a moment later.

It was a gentle fall, anyway. The carpet was soft. And Manny was fairly light, and knew how to land softly. Which was good, as he landed on top of Leah.

"Heh..." Manny chuckled. "Yeah, I think your bed was a little bigger than this."

[Leah kuso]

"I think you're right" Leah said a little breathlessly - light or not, a person landing on you was still not ideal. She smiled though, placing a hand on his cheek.

"Thank you. Not for squishing me, for...well, being a friend. It's really nice, and I'm glad I met you."

[Manny Donos]

Manny smiled, the expression tangible against Leah's hand. His cheek was warm to the touch. "Hey... right back at you. You're something special, Leah. And you deserve to have good stuff happen for you. Like... freedom, and travel, and an apartment with two rooms and stuff. So if there's anything I can do..."

He smirked, pushing himself up onto his forearms, but not getting up. "So, like, if you wanted me to, I don't know, not be on top of you, well, just let me know, huh?" He grinned impudently down at her.

[Leah kuso]

"Oh my god."

Leah laughed, shaking her head.

"Thanks I think. Good to know I have the option of like, not being squashed anymore. Does that mean if I don't say anything you're not going to move?"

[Manny Donos]

"Yep." Manny said blandly. "I mean, I'm comfy. I figure you're probably comfy too, right?"

He did at least shift so that only a fraction of his weight was actually on her.

[Leah kuso]

Leah rolled her eyes.

"Fine."

She pushed up slightly, placing her lips on Mannys and giving him a soft brief kiss.

"There. Can you get up now?"

[Manny Donos]

Manny blinked, almost to surprised to respond to the kiss, his lips moving just a little. "Oh... well! That... wow. Okay." Manny smileddown at her.

There was a brief pause.

"Oh yeah! Sorry." Nimbly he rolled off Leah, coming to a sitting position on the floor. "I am a man of my word." Manny frowned. "Well... sometimes anyway. To people I'm close to, anyway."

[Leah kuso]

Leah giggled, pulling herself halfway up to just roll onto the couch.

"That was a weird reaction. Not used to kisses magic Manny? Aren't the girls all over a pretty magician?"

[Manny Donos]

Manny laughed. "Not so many kisses, no. Actually, you know, funny thing, doing magic is popular with the ladies. But once I tell them that I do it for a living, they're less interested." He considered for a moment. "I guess I could not tell them... but I guess I wanna find someone who thinks being a magician is awesome!"

He slid over, to sit on the floor next to the couch, arms resting on it. "I'm guessing you have to fend off interested people pretty regularly, huh? With a stick?" He mimed waving a stick around in the air.

[Leah kuso]

"I've had a few guys who think because I dance in skimpy clothes it gives them free reign to grab me, or that I'm weak willed and eager to please them" Leah rolled her eyes "as for interested people for romance...well, there is one..." she sighed softly "but it's complicated. I don't know how compatible we really are, I'm a city girl who doesn't really know the world and he's a survivor type. I don't know if he just sees me as a pretty little thing or is serious."

[Manny Donos]

"Yeah, I kinda figured that." Manny grimaced in distaste. "It's why I... well, nevermind." He waved a hand.

He looked at her curiously, tilting his head to the side. "I guess... you gotta show him the real Leah, like, the really real Leah, and see what he thinks. That makes sense, right?"
