Surprise Incall [D2 EM]

Tosath sat in his uniform at his small table. He was eating a small breakfast he prepared. His pack was resting by the door, as he was heading out to work in a half our or so. Just a run-of-the-mill morning for him.

[Roxi]

After meeting that vaguely familiar doctor not too long ago, Roxi had made the attempt to figure out where she might find him, should the need arrive. It was *always* a good idea to be on good terms with someone who can heal the many injuries someone like her was liable to acquire, after all. She just hadn't expected to make use of his services so soon.

Hell, she'd expected to just sleep it off... but that was turning out to be a no go. Her head was absolutely wrecking her ability to continue sleeping, and the bruises were obviously bad enough that she needed someone to take a look at them. So, crazy as it was to be up and about, she headed over to the address she knew the doctor was supposed to be at...

...and knocked.

He would find a very battered-looking Roxi there.

Moving to open the door, he sees the young lady from a few days before. And she had apparently gotten herself in a lot of trouble.

"The hell did you get yourself into?" he asks, helping her into his apartment and showing her to his couch. The inside of the apartment was immaculate and smelled not unlike a doctor's office. He apparently took cleanliness very seriously.

After she takes a seat he doesn't really wait for an explanation before getting his pack from near the door and setting it on an end table next to her. Opening a small slot and pulling out a renewable stim, he takes her wrist and exposes her forearm so that he could apply it.

"I punched a gundark," she said without the slightest indication that it was a figure of speech like such a sentence would normally be. "It ran away before I could take it down, though."

She sat down, then allowed the stim to be injected. He would certainly notice that her injuries were much more extensive than could be handled with a simply stim application. And she seemed to have quite a few old scars too, he was probably only seeing a fraction of them with her rolled up sleeve. Maybe they even looked... slightly familiar.

"Knocked me into a wall," she said, pointing at her head. "It's still ringing."

"I've still got a lot more work here," he says with a nod. Pulling out a scanner that is connected to the medpac, he turns it on and starts waving it around her body in a slow, doctorly manner. "It looks like you've got a few bone bruises and a hairline fracture on the side of your skull. I'm guessing the headache is pretty bad? Zero to ten, how's it feel right now."

While she responds, he puts away one scanner and pulls out another that's a little bulkier and looks far more specific.

Roxi had no way of assigning a number to pain; not since... well... *things* happened way back when. So, like a kid who didn't know the answer to a question on a test, she just picked a number at random.

"Five."

"Alright," he said with a nod.

He began going over what looked like each impact point, using a few different tools from the medpac on each. He had her move and lift her shirt over several of the bruise locations. He had seen thousands of naked patients so it wasn't a concern to him, but some liked maintaining modesty so he did his best to allow her to if it concerned her. With each pass of the tools over the wounded sections, there was relief from the aching. It still didn't cure the head injury but he would get to that.

"I treated a young girl with many similar scars. About 6 or 7 years ago I think," he says offhand. "Don't remember what station the crew took me to. They hired me out to different crews when they docked. A couple extra credits and favors for them probably."

[Roxi]

"Oh," she said, with a little more energy than she should be able to show even with the pain relief, "that's right around the time I joined up with the Revenants! They had me see a white-haired doctor too! I guess you guys are popular on pirate havens, huh?"

She still hadn't pieced it together. He though, presumably, was a fair bit smarter than she was.

"We are not," he says with a chuckle. "And you are probably the young girl I treated then. Must have been one hard blow to the head," he said in a teasing tone.

"Lay down on the couch here, and rest your head on this pillow. I'm going to need you to stay still while I try to get your skull to start healing that fracture more quickly."

He guides Roxy down and positions her so that he can access his medpac right next to her head. Kneeling on the floor next to her, he went over the injury with the hand scanner once more to pinpoint exactly where he had to attempt to get her body to focus it's healing with his medical assistance. It was painful and before the procedure was done, the headache was made worse, but after a good long while the throbbing halted and she was left with just a dull ache.

Healed Critical wound, caused one point of strain

[Roxi]

"Uh, okay," she did as instructed, at least the laying down part; she was moving about rather a lot as she kept talking, "you know, now that you mention it, yeah maybe that *was* you! I kept telling them I was fine, but they wanted me to get a doctor to look at me anyway. All I did was hold my breath for 10 minutes or so, big deal."

Of course, it was quite a bit of a bigger deal than she's saying. The injuries back then had been way more extensive than the ones now. There'd been signs of torture, exposure to vacuum, and radiation burns.

Having finished up, he patted her shoulder. "Stay right there for a few minutes. Let your body do it's work for a little and heal that up."

Standing, the doctor starts putting away all the medical equipment into the medpac. After finishing that up, he moves the pack by the door again, everything in it's proper place.

"You eat anything yet today?" he asks.

[Roxi]

"Oh, I still have those rations from the Jawa," she said, considering the matter of food in relation to her still very low funds. She'd have to find a way to make some more money. Sell that salvage, at least... then maybe find out what's behind that door. Speaking of...

"...say, you wouldn't know how to, uh, work computer systems, right? Or like, do engineering stuff."

[Tosath Nazora]

"I don't have any specific training, but I've tinkered with stuff like that as a hobby at different times in my life. The functions of the human body are mechanical in a certain sense."

He goes to his refrigerator and opens it up, grabbing some fresh fruit, then goes to a cabinet and gets a nutrient bar that he would usually eat if he was in a rush. It wasn't one of the bland tasteless kind that you would pack for a long space voyage, rather one of the ones that would go bad after a couple months and was flavored. This one was apparently some type of oat and chocolate, and was a soft, chewy consistency.

"I don't keep electronics and computers beyond what's necessary here at home, but I work with them with basic proficiency at the office. I might be able to help you out, but I'm certainly not a specialist. But if you're doing so somewhere where there are gundarks that like to attack folks, you might be better off asking someone to help who has skill with a blaster as well as experience with that sort of thing."

He sets the food on the end table by Roxi, then moves to inspect the wound on her head to double check that everything was looking much better. After that he sits in a chair across from the couch.

"I'm much more interested in general education, reading, medicine and getting to know people. I'll help out if you like, but I don't have any tools or training that would give me an edge, just years of basic experience and an adaptable mind."

[Roxi]

Her eyes started glazing over as her hopes of a super-wizard-slicer getting her through that door were dashed... but the moment passed as soon as there was food in front of her. She instantly started devouring it.

"It's alright," she was talking while eating at the same time, "don't worry 'bout it!"

"If you're certain. Getting a specialist usually requires an upfront payment or a larger, usually equal, share of salvage. I'm not the sort that worries over credits too much, and if I can't help you'd owe me nothing. Plus, you're getting yourself hurt out there obviously. Having a doctor along might not be a bad idea," he says smirking at that.

[Roxi]

"Well," she said, "I'm pretty sure there's a nest of Gundarks in there somewhere, so it'd be super dangerous if you can't handle yourself at least a little."

[Tosath Nazora]

"If there's a whole next of gundark, then it sounds like what you really need is a few hunters," he says with a nod. "I'm not much good in an actual scuffle, but you should at least bring someone along with medical skills. Likely to get a few cuts and scrapes if you're clearing out a nest of predators."

[Roxi]

"Well, I guess I know where you live at least, so I can maybe drag you along with us if I find a crew to tackle the place. Just don't go complaining on me if you end up dead."

[Tosath Nazora]

"Well, I'd be coming with to try and make sure nobody else does. So it would probably be best if folks tried to keep me from being a target," he said with a chuckle. "But I'm not scared of taking risks."

[Roxi]

"Well, I don't know if this is true, but I heard someone claim Gundarks only see movement. So maybe don't move too much. Or maybe don't *stop* moving, especially when they come after you. One of those two would do, I think."
