For the others who knew Raven, she seemed to tense up. Like the way someone did when you ripped off a bandaid suddenly with no warning.

Jyrvess winced, "I was planning on taking cover," she responds quietly to Clay. "I think...negotiations are about to turn sour."

"Indeed." He moves be keep her protected. "Raven's parents are a sore spot, but I don't blame her, if this goes sideways..." Continuing be talk very softly.

"I knew your father! Come closer," he said, pulling his sidearm from his thigh-holster and handing it off to the archaeologist who seemed to, for the first time in his life, handle something as if he had no idea what to do with it. "We should speak more privately!"
With that said, he walked out from behind the barricade first. Showing he was unarmed.

Re: Dha Verda Werda (D8, EN)
Raven stood still for a moment, fingers drumming softly against her rifle as she seemed uncertain of what to do. Her shoulders tensed a bit more before she looked back to the others. "If this is a trap; show no mercy." Cautiously let go off her rifle and used its sling to put it behind her back.
Unlike this stranger who wouldn't give his name yet, Raven had no intention of walking in unarmed. She did however give him the courtesy of not holding any weapons as she stepped out to meet him. Each step was determined, and was surprisingly light on the ground considering the heavy armor she wore.

"Hayar Cadera," he gave his name as soon as she approached. "Former of Death Watch. Then of the Protectors. I fought beside your father. Knowing that, I would say I have more to share but before I do I must ask on your honor, Raven Cadera, that the archaeologist and his men, the troopers here, are allowed to leave this place freely and without harm."

"That is a big thing you're asking," she said with almost a grunt. "They're the Empire's lackeys - they work for the ones who have humiliated our people, who got the Saxons on their leash. They've brought disgrace to our people."
Through the visor, she fixed him with a hard stare. "So give me the reason why. It had better be good."

Re: Dha Verda Werda (D8, EN)
"The archaeologist is only a scholar, one interested in the history of our people. Annoying on the best of days but a good man. As for the troopers, not every one of them has had much of a choice in this world. Some more than others certain. Among those here, at least two are conscripts. They've not been given a much better shake and they certainly don't follow orders because they are true believers but because they are told to, and made to," he said.
"They are not as strong as the Mando'ade, I have taken pity on their plight. They're only tools to bigger and nastier men. If you seek a villain you need only look to me when this is all over, I will answer for all crimes."

"The troopers would surrender so easily?" Varina glanced over at the archaeologist. "Him I can believe. You, not so much."

Re: Dha Verda Werda (D8, EN)
She hated how Hayar was making her have to think, to make choices outside of the heat of battle. Her worst moments was when she had to think things through outside of survival and victory.
There was a silent, drawn out moment, as she asked herself what Praxton would've done in this situation. What would be the honorable thing to do... there is no glory in slaughtering sheep, or those who have surrendered, she reminded herself.
"Lay down your weapons, and surrender. Their lives will be spared and they must yield all that has been uncovered here to Mand'alor." She gave a faint nod to him. "Their lives rest on your shoulders now, Hayar Cadera. These are the terms."
Hearing Varina's words, she raised a hand as a signal for the others to halt (as she was assuming they might be readying themselves for a fight). "There is no glory or honor in killing those who have already given up the fight. We are warriors."

"Jax, Torya, Jaise, Timult," he waved the troopers forward. They did as he bid, and as Raven bid, and lay down their arms. Following alongside them the archaeologist held out Hayars blaster for someone to take. "Those are their names, the troopers. Treat them well."
"All here I give claim to the man you follow, your Mand'alor," he said. "With that done.. there is further business of ours, Raven Cadera."

Varina holstered her pistol and took the other one. She glanced over at Raven and then to the man before her. "I can take it from here, oh glorious leader," she said, sticking out her tongue.

"Understood." Jyrvess nodded but stayed near the crates, cautious as ever. Not that any of the troopers would have found her intimidating. "Looks like we may avoid a fight." She nodded at Clay then added a shrug.

Raven chuckled dryly at Varina's impudence. The girl sure was a mystery sometimes. "I trust you to take care of it."
Whatever was underneath that tarp was bound to be interesting, and she figured at least Clay and Jyrvess wouldn't mind a chance to check it out or speak with the smart person in charge of the dig here. "Jyv, Clay, check out what's under that tarp there and what the archaeologist has found."
Activating her integrated comm, Raven passed on the message; "the situation is under control here. Victory is ours." There, simple as that.
"Now, we will talk, Hayar Cadera," she took a step to the side, to give the others room to move in and for them to not stand out in the open.

Jyrvess smiled, "It's not paranoia when people are out to get you." She approached slowly, ready to dive for cover if needed. Nodding to the archaeologist as they passed. Assuming nothing happened she would take a moment to see if there were any obvious traps at the tarp.

"Ugh, I hope we know all data and everything I did for this raid. I had a PTSD moment a few times with all my time on Arkanian and the destruction of the mining building that my parents dead in and I had just finished work there too. We were mining engineers... I hated it, but now they are gone..." Clay sits on a crate. "Ok, so what would like to look at?"

Re: Dha Verda Werda (D8, EN)
"You have a difficult choice coming to you, Raven, I do not envy it and for that I am sorry. Yet, I cannot allow this to go any other way. When I left the protectors I took with me enough Beskar and armament to give me time to prepare, set up on my own. However, what I found in that solitude was merely haunted thoughts and so I turned my attention to the past. My friend, your friend now, the archaeologist was of a like minded individual. Unfortunately, only the Empire had the money to foot our bill and we had to buy in," he explained.
"When I left for my search into the history of our people I left all of that Beskar, all of the armaments, all of it is behind in my safe-house. Hidden somewhere out there in this galaxy. I tell you this, Raven Cadera, because I played a part in the death of your parents. A friend, Vanito Cadera, he asked me for a favor. Help getting onto Concord Dawn, and I gave it to him. Family, as you see, was important but.. in truth.. I knew what he was going to do, I just didn't want to admit it. Perhaps.. perhaps I hoped it would change something. It didn't change enough and an old friend was taken from me. It was my fault your father died, your family died. At least... in some small part."
"Let me live and the safe-house is yours, otherwise.. I accept whatever else you deem appropriate. I offer you this chance, Raven Cadera. Judge me as you see fit as one of the true Mando'ade," he said.

As far as Jyvress can tell there are no tarps by the trap. Traps by the tarp? Tarps by the tarp trap. It should be fine.Jyrvess Ertil wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 9:41 amJyrvess smiled, "It's not paranoia when people are out to get you." She approached slowly, ready to dive for cover if needed. "Looks safe Mr Frost," Jyrvess pulled the tarp aside to peer underneath, "Well then what do we have here?"
